How do I install a roller blind?
Before you make the decision to install a roller curtain, you need to pay attention to the fabric categories and their specifications. For the right decision, ask to know: Do I save heat? Are there any specialized crews ? Does the installation take more than half a day ? How do we measure a space to order a roller ?

The categories of roller blind fabrics available are:
Black out
In this category we have 100% complete blackout and are usually used in places where total darkness is required such as bedrooms, business premises, etc.
Perforated
This category allows us to see out, filtering the solar energy so that we can protect our space.
The passage of passing solar energy is 3% - 5% and 10% depending on your needs and wishes.

Can they see me at night?
With blackout curtains you can be seen when it is dark outside and you have bright light in the room. There are partial blackout fabrics (called dimout) with which at night, when you have the light on, shadows can be seen. There are also full blackout fabrics (Blackout or Extra).
Do I save heat?
Roller blinds will reduce the amount of heat transferred through your windows by 24%, keeping the rooms where they are installed cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
Energy-saving rollers with energy-saving fabrics (SPC) are also available. SPC (Solar Protective Coating) energy fabrics have a metallic coating on the outside and contribute significantly to energy savings by reflecting sunlight. At the same time, they protect the room from the intense UVA and UVB rays of the sun.
What are the most efficient window coverings?
Cellular shades are the best and most energy efficient window coverings you can buy. They use pockets of cells to trap air around your windows, keeping your rooms warm in the winter and cool in the summer. What is the price for the fabric of a roller blind?
Prices range from 15€ per square metre for a plain curtain fabric to 90€ per square metre for a full blackout roller blind fabric.
For example: a plate-glass window with a height of 2.40 and a width of 1.30 requires 3.12 square metres of fabric, which must be multiplied by the price of the fabric to calculate the final cost.

Our company visits your site and performs a scan with a special machine and 3D software for accurate measurement of dimensions.
This allows us (especially in large spaces) to calculate the length of the curtain or roller blind to the nearest millimetre.

Roller selection
A roller consists of the "shaft", to which the drive mechanism (chain or electric motor) and the fabric are applied.
Depending on the length of the "shaft" and the type of fabric, the mechanism varies, because the weight it will lift varies.
For example, when you see 3 rollers Φ25 it means a diameter Ø 25mm which is recommended for widths up to 1.60m.
One roller is max Φ45 for widths up to 2.60m
CAUTION: If you choose manual rollers and may later want automatic rollers, you must provide for this from the beginning, so that the manufacturer gives you the option.

The fabrics will be cut and sewn in our own workshop with state-of-the-art cutting and sewing machines for high quality sewing such as: classic roman (Roman), double-sided roman, truss stitching (pressed), balloon, simple ruffle, labricin, American pleat, braces.
Placement
Mounting is done on the wall or ceiling with special support systems for optimal installation.
The mechanism of the rollers is hidden inside cover cassettes which are mounted on the wall or ceiling.
For a more aesthetically pleasing application, a mechanism cover cassette is available which can be painted in any colour.
Common Customer Questions
At what height can a roller be put in the case of a balcony door?
Either in the recess of the balcony door, or 10cm above the balcony door or window or on the ceiling depending on the décor we want to create. Attention: in the recess of the opening, when the window opens inwards, there must be a margin of at least 7cm for a manual roller and at least 11 cm for an electric roller, so that the window can be opened.
Can the roller be screwed to the wall or ceiling?
Yes, the roller can be installed on the ceiling or on the wall. The brackets are the same and work for both cases.
Can large rollers be put into drywall and how can we support them?
Large rollers and even electric rollers that have a higherweight can be placed in plasterboard, but the way of support is such that the installation must be done by experienced craftsmen. During installation, special metal dowels are used to press and a special machine is used to press them. Ficher dowels are preferred as they are the top of the line.
How much gap between them do the successive rollers leave?
Successive rollers leave a gap of about 3.5cm between them. An intermediate support solution is suggested whereby the two rollers are supported on a support, reducing the gap between the fabrics to approximately 2cm.
How much space do wooden blinds with a height of e.g. 2.00 m take up when they are raised?
Wooden blinds are a good category in the shading types and offer a special aesthetic. Height of the blind => raised wooden blind: 1,00 μ => 17,50 cm, 1,50 μ => 22,50 cm, 2,00 μ => 27,00 cm, 2,50 μ => 33,00 cm, 3,00 μ => 38,00 cm.
Is it difficult for us to make the placement?
The placement can be done by you. However, the technical department of Kalogirou has various specialised tools such as a laser level for aligned installation or special dowels if the wall or plasterboard is not so stable. We are also able to take care of various other details that may arise in the space in question.
Can we keep the mechanism and change the fabric on the rollers?
Yes, it is possible but the installation of the new fabric has to be done by experts.
How do we measure a space to order a roller?
If the roller is to be placed in the recessed opening of the window or French door, the width should be measured from the top side, because the top recess may be narrower. If fitted over the window or balcony door opening, the width shall extend 8 cm on each side (for example 8cm-150cm-8cm). The height is measured either from the end of the wall or 10 cm above the opening.
If we already have a curtain fabric, can we turn it into a roller blind?
No, it is not possible. The fabrics with which the rollers are made are specifically for this use. Because of their lamination, they cannot be washed like ordinary fabrics, but can only be cleaned locally.
How many cm must an indentation be in order for electric rollers to be fitted and not be visible?
In order to fit an electric roller comfortably, the recess inside must be 10 cm wide and 12 cm high, as the support for the electric roller is 7 cm wide and comes down to 9,5 cm. The power supply can be located on either side (right or left) to suit the electrical installation in the room.
